Welcome to a universe full of mysticism and creative light that brings electronic music far beyond the edge of Lounge Music and World Fusion.
DjayPee (Jean-Pierre Lantieri) is a unique French artist with an Asian heart who fell in love with South-East Asia and its myriad of mysterious wonders. He decided a few years back that he has found his muse in this part of the world where sunshine and beautiful smiles greet you every day.
While there, he is often happily initiated to some enigmatic beliefs during ceremonies or religious happenings with local people from all over Asia. He gathers here and there new ideas while listening to local music and experiencing first hand culture, inspiring the people around him with his refreshing universal music.
DjayPee, globe composer always between two planes, finalizes his work in his studio in Kuala Lumpur where he can rework these melodies and these samples recorded during his trips to create music at its best.
His music is inspired by the likes of Era, Enigma, JM Jarre, Kitaro, Deep Forest, Andrew Lum, Moby, Ruychi Sakamoto, as well as by observing local traditional and modern performances in many countries in Asia.
This has led to award winning compositions including ‘The Roses of Ispahan’, ‘The Last Emperor’ and the popular ‘Geisha’.
With "The Roses of Ispahan", DjayPee has won a competition at makeastar.com which allowed this piece to be incorporated in a compilation.
In October 2006, CDs containing 14 of DjayPee ’s composition were distributed to the guests at the gala party of the IndoChine Festival 2006 organised by the IndoChine group of restaurants and bars in Singapore.
In December 2006, he won the best composition from Malaysia in the Music Aid competition.
More recently, early 2007, his song ‘Geisha’ has been chosen as a theme song to figure in a children’s documentary of Japan ‘The Little Travellers’, as well as for an ad for the Hotels Nikko.
In a different genre, DjayPee ’s house remix of Beyonce’s song ‘One Night Only’ is regularly being played in discotheques in South East Asia.
And ‘Geisha’ is currently finalist in the Independent Music Awards in the World Fusion category.
